Connecting to God at Fall Retreat

The leaves are changing all around. Fall is upon us. As the days of summer fade, colleges and universities are in full swing. These October weekends are filled with fall getaways as students escape the busyness of campus and head to the woods to experience a weekend with God.

Think back. Do you recall when you first met Jesus? When you first experienced His love? When you first experienced His grace? When you first experienced His forgiveness? Do you recall when and where you first called Him Lord?

Thousands of students this month are gathering to worship, learn about and experience our God. Many will have that first encounter this weekend. They may be wrestling with ‘the God thing’. They may be ready to explore and experience the body of Christ, but unsure of what it all means. It’s a quiet weekend away to connect, reflect and worship. For a number of them, they will commit their lives to The Lord for the first time or recommit for lifetime.

“Because I just gave my life to Christ I am now 100% sure that I would go to heaven if I died today.” Anna is one of 17 Ohio University students who placed their faith in Christ in August!

“I always knew I wanted to a have a relationship with Christ, but I never knew how to start and open by heart to Him. I prayed to God tonight [to invite Jesus in my life as my Lord and Savior].” Jack at Purdue University

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Thank you for your continued prayers and financial partnership as we labor to reach this generation of college students with the gospel.

When was your first encounter with Christ? How did he change you? Leave a comment and let us know.
