Designing Summer Missions with Cru

After putting more than 120 hours into a design project, sometimes it’s important to show your work. What takes so long? In my case it was versions and revisions. Trying things out. Seeing what worked. The US map page is a perfect example: (click the maps to see a larger version)

This first version turned out to be too complex. I wanted to showcase the different lengths of trips with the outer circle color and different types of people with the inner dot. Interesting, but complicated.

The second version shows the opposite. These dots are all the same size, and the result is pretty boring.

The final map uses different sizes of circles to show length of the mission trip, and different colors showcase the different types of people you will be reaching or working with.
